Birdwatching at Tricao Aviary
Walk among hundreds of free-flying birds in the largest free-flight aviary in South America.
Service Description
Spend a day with some of the world’s most colourful birds at Parque Tricao, home to the largest free-flight aviary in South America. This private birdwatching tour from Santiago pairs a guided aviary walk with a relaxed coastal lunch in Santo Domingo. Perfect for bird lovers, photographers and families. - FULL DAY EXPERIENCE (6 TO 8 HOURS) - We leave Santiago in a private vehicle for a scenic 90-minute drive to Santo Domingo. Parque Tricao protects 100 hectares of native forest, and its aviary spans around 2 hectares, with a 1,000-metre trail across three levels: lagoon-side paths, forest ravines and a 52-metre suspension bridge through the treetops. Hundreds of birds of more than 50 species fly freely around you, many rescued from captivity. Your guide sets a relaxed pace for watching and photographing. Afterwards we enjoy lunch at a coastal restaurant near the park, then return to Santiago. - WHAT YOU WILL SEE - • Eclectus parrots, rainbow lorikeets, sun conures, cockatiels and cockatoos • Turacos, metallic starlings, scarlet ibis, mandarin ducks and swans • Pheasants, including the golden pheasant • Native birds: the wider park has recorded more than 60 native species Most aviary birds are exotic and the birds on display can change, so individual sightings cannot be guaranteed. Add a specialist ornithologist for species identification, or a bird photography guide, on request. What's included: private local guide, private transportation, coastal lunch in Santo Domingo and advance booking of your Parque Tricao aviary tickets. - GOOD TO KNOW - • Group size: 100% private, no minimum or maximum — perfect for solo travelers, couples, families, and large groups, fully tailored to you. • Pickup: Flexible and personalized, from your hotel, apartment, or any address in Santiago. • Pricing: Custom quote based on your selected experience — contact us for a personalized price. • Booking ahead: aviary entry is timed and limited, so reserve early. - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - • Is this tour private?
